After several rain stoppages which led to the washing out of crucial sessions, the 1st Paytm India vs Sri Lanka Test eventually ends in a draw but to everyone's surprise, it did go down the wire and both the teams were fighting it out till the very last ball.
Just when the 1st Paytm India vs Sri Lanka Test was inching towards an obvious draw in the 1st 4 days after Team India and Sri Lanka were bundled out on 172 and 294 runs respectively, the last day's play saw a major turnaround.
When the wickets were falling at a regular interval on the other, Captain Virat Kohli took the initiative and accelerated towards his 18th Test Century, which was also the 50th International Century of his career. His knock consisted of classy 12 boundaries and couple of whooping sixes. The way he shifted his gears from completing his half-century in 80 balls to finishing off with an unbeaten 104 in mere 119 balls at the declaration was a treat to watch for the spectators.
Chasing the score of 231 runs, the Sri Lankan batsmen were finding it real difficult to adjust themselves in front of India's spearheads - Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The duo tried their level best to lead Team India to victory but failed with just a whisker as the umpires called of the day's play when Sri Lanka was struggling on 75/7 due to the bad light.
Things were heated up as Sri Lanka tried wasting the time through some thing or the other, which has made this series even more interesting now. The Paytm Test Series is still open wide with the next Test to be played at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha on Friday, 24th November 2017.
